Albany Creek Swim Club has experienced significant growth in its membership and its participation rate in competitive swimming over the last decade. The departure of former head coach, John Robinson (or 'JR') to head of the Canadian National Team in 2009 heralded the arrival of Richard Sleight.

Our most significant milestone as a club was the results at the Australian Swimming Championship Olympic Trials in March 2008. Albany Creek Swim Club placed 2nd overall at this national meet with Bronte Barrett, Leith Brodie and Kylie Palmer all winning gold medals and making their debut as Olympians. Kylie and Bronte went on to make history as being part of the 4x200m freestyle relay team, which set a new world record. These, and other successful swimmers from the club, are members of the club's Honour Roll.

In addition to all of these amazing achievements, our club has enjoyed many successes at local, Brisbane and Queensland Swimming Carnivals held throughout the years. We run a successful club night competition event weekly from October to April and over past seasons have seen fantastic attendances and achievements at these nights.

The objectives of ACSC are to extend, encourage and improve the art and knowledge of swimming in an enjoyable and family environment. More specific team goals are:

  • To strengthen team and individual character;

  • Create an atmosphere of team spirit, unity and support and to contribute to the development of a positive attitude;

  • To foster the development of determination, confidence and pride; and

  • To strengthen our weaknesses and realise our maximum potential in athletic performance.

  • Outcomes sought from ACSC activities guided by the above goals, include:

  • Further developing the involvement of the local community in club swimming;

  • Deepening the understanding within the local swimming community of opportunities to participate in activities (e.g. swim carnivals) that deliver the challenge and delight of achievement; and

  • Encouraging our members to continue their participation in physical activities and realise the immense benefits.
